The Peak has been Simon Fraser University's Student Newspaper since 1965. In its years of existence, it has taken many different shapes and forms. Here on the Internet, it takes another form, with the e.Peak: The Peak in electronic format.
The e.Peak was created in 1994 by Gordon Ross, originally in Gopher format, and migrated to the world wide web a few years later.
The Peak is distributed weekly at the Burnaby Mountain and Harbour Centre campuses, as well as several other locations in downtown Vancouver every Monday. Because the electronic edition cannot be created until after the print version, the e.Peak is usually updated every Monday night, depending on resource availability.
The Peak webserver was upgraded sometime in 2004 with a PIII/667, that replaced the one installed on January 25, 2000, a Pentium II/400 running Red Hat Linux. The original webserver, a Pentium 133 is now a doorstop in the Peak's Arcive room you notice any strange behaviour, please contact Electronic Publications.
