meet SFU: Fun with FM
Hey kids, it's time to meet that wild and zany bunch known as the CJSF-ers. What exactly is a CJSF-er, you ask, well they are people who work at your friendly campus and community radio station. Don't expect to hear Britney Spears or Nickelback though; CJSF is a non-commercial, grassroots radio station that focuses on bringing unheard voices to the airwaves. As you may have heard, CJSF is going FM. That's right, they really mean it this time. Before you know it, the little radio station that you know and love will be available on the FM dial. Not to worry though, I'm sure the CJSF-ers won't forget the little people. In fact, they love it when new people pop in and want to get involved! It's time to meet some of the friendly faces you might see when you finally get around to visiting the station... Meet Magnus. He's the station manager. When asked what he has to say to anyone interested in getting involved with the station, he said, "Come by, try it out! It's a lot of fun and we provide all the training you need." As fine and dandy as that response was, what I really wanted to know was what he had to say about the rumors that unmentionable things go on at the station after hours. "Um, I hope not, but you never know." Something tells me he knows more than he's letting on. I smell a cover-up. Meet Anthony. He's the program coordinator. Anthony has recently discovered he has a secret admirer. When asked about his stalker - I mean, number one fan, he waved his latest love letter about and shouted, "It was you, wasn't it!" I will admit nothing, although the writing is very similar to mine and I am quite partial to facial hair... I will admit nothing! Anthony is very excited about the upcoming flip to FM: "It's great! All the hard work everyone does around here will be accessible, heard and hopefully appreciated." Meet Amanda. She's part of the work-study program at CJSF. What does she think of CJSF? "It's relaxing. You get to listen to music while you work, everyone's friendly, it's pretty easy work." Amanda thinks the switch to FM is pretty exciting stuff. She also thinks people should listen to CJSF because "it's so much better than your other options if you're looking for something other than top 40." Amanda's final thoughts: "Come by, it's a nice place. Is my picture really going to be in the paper?"
