Calling all philosophers

Cindy Lou

Opening up last issue's Peak, I was immediately confronted by four jam-packed pages of opinions on topics ranging from female chauvinist pigs to more complaints about the bus.

It's awesome to see so many SFU students voicing their concerns, and many of the issues they bring up are indeed worthy of discussion and debate.

However, sometimes I can't help but wonder whether more than just complaints, controversies, and the tedious blur of school life fill the university student's mind.

Do people have room in their already fully occupied brains to think of things beyond pressing current issues? It would be interesting to see subjects like philosophy being tackled on the opinions page, perhaps wrestling with the age old question of The Meaning of Life - after all, this is one question that we all have to eventually ask.

Where are the Sartres, Aquinases, and Aristotles of SFU?
