The Peak and you, the reader

Hello, dear readers.
Welcome! So now that you’ve read an entire issue, what did you think? Anything you really liked come to mind? Something you’re going to cut out and put on your fridge in case you need a chuckle first thing in the morning when you eat breakfast? Or maybe you saw something that made you angry? Let us know. We need readers to be very honest with us — it’s how the paper becomes what our readers want it to be. So now that you’ve read the paper and are ready to let us know just how happy, confused, or angry we’ve made you, you probably want to know the best ways to contact us:

WRITE A LETTER:
The number one place to let us, and all other readers, know exactly what you think about what we publish is the opinions section. So let us know about the good, the bad, anything and everything, at opinion(at)mail.peak.sfu.ca. Too many times, our Opinions Editor barely gets enough letters to fill up the section — that’s crazy! Your odds of getting published are quite good, so send us your rants, your tirades, your manifestos, or whatever else is on your mind.

COME TO A MEETING:
Every Wednesday at 2:30pm we have our Collective meetings. They are open to everyone and are the best way to meet and talk with us in person! All the editors are there, and we talk about whatever people bring up. Every student is a member of our newspaper society, so if you gots a question, we gots an answer!

WRITE FOR US!:
Oh yes, we like writers — news writers, arts writers, features writers, comic writers (even comic artists!), we like ‘em all.

WAIT A MINUTE, DO I GET FREE STUFF?:
Of course you do. Well, sort of. Firstly, you’ll get the power and prestige that comes with being published in a newspaper. You can put it on your grad school application that you’re a published author! No jokes! Also, your story will go on our website, where anyone can read it — it’s like a billboard on the information superhighway! Do people say that anymore? Well, I’m bringing it back. See? Being published means you can make things hip again.

Plus, if you play your cards right (meaning, if you ask nicely), our Arts Editor, you can get you free CDs, books, or tickets in exchange for reviews of them!

WHERE IS THIS “PEAK”?:
Our offices are in the Maggie Benston Building, in room 2901. You can find us underneath the Higher Grounds Coffee Shop. Go down the staircase at the back of the shop, turn right when you see the video arcade, go through the glass door, keep going down the stairs and there you are: at The Peak. Or, if you know where Forum Chambers is, we're the bright green computer filled office located directly beside it.

WHAT ABOUT E-MAIL?:
Great idea. If you go to page two of any issue of The Peak, you can see all of our e-mail addresses in the masthead on page 2. Just pick your favourite editor and send them a message! We’ll write back. Promise!
